My Three conventions

Casting, Directing and Credits

Casting- Here we had to choose male and female actors who could portray the characters that we created. As we were targeting a male dominant society it would seem that having the male actor played by Levi Bent act violent, terrifying and creepy, I believe we have successfully achieved our ambitions do to the footage shown and how professional it looks compared to other real media. Furthermore the female actress used is played by Megan Boyle and we had envisioned her to be represented as the male gaze. This is due to the male dominated society and having her viewed through the male’s perspective allows the audience to experience it in that way.

Credits- The credits consist of the members of our group and the specific roles that they played part into the final poster and trailer. To help create this we used Photoshop to help us create the credits and Dafont which enabled us to use the specific font used on real media posters/trailers.  Although some of the information regarding the names was false we adapted those media products such as the Friday the 13th poster/ trailer, The Shining poster and Nightmare on Elm Street poster into our own product to allow it become more accurate with other real media text.

Directing- This is a major role that has to be taken seriously in order to have a successful result. At the start of our production we had established who our director was and how we divided up the work between us was supervised by him. While shooting on set our director was there to organise each scene and direct the camera man to each shot that was supposed to be taken.

Individual analysis of 3 existing Horror Trailers in booklet (Lesson 1.1)

Individual analysis of 3 existing Horror Trailers in booklet I will be analyzing three different monster sub genres focusing on: Mis en scene, Camera, Editing and Sound.  Sub genre Monsters: Godzilla 1954 trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKrj1ymJzmo The sub genre of monsters is a classic trait as a horror film as it is easy to identify and audience are very attracted to it. Specifically speaking of the Godzilla trailer made in 1954 by Japanese creator Ishiro Honda. Firstly I noticed how sound played a pivotal role in emphasizing the effect of a 60ft monster, the pace of the sound was also admirable as the frantic, fluctuated music pace matched with the trailer enticing the audience into wanting why that was. In addition editing techniques such as jump cuts were evident in the trailer as they helped build tension to the trailer quickly building anticipation for the audience. Furthermore cross cutting was integrated into the trailer as the audience saw from tw

300 word analyse sub-genre of the film Cabin in The Woods

Week 2 task 3 Using your notes from class on sub-genre and Horror conventions,  write a 300 word summary  of HOW the film make interesting use of the conventions of Horror and Sub-genres you have studied. Cabin in The Woods utilizes different sub-genres throughout the film that highlight the categories in the horror genre. This Horror film begins with the odd sense of the film actually  not fitting the right requirements to see it as a horror film as lighting, sound, camera, editing and mis-en-scene all play an essential part of diverting from its true nature. Other horror films begin with dark and gloomy lighting, plus the addition and sound creating the tension it would seem ideal. Furthermore the 5 fictional characters help portray certain traits such as the dumb blonde, the smart one, the virgin girl, the athlete and the fool. In film as custom the slutty girl dies first with her sins put to sleep, with the other characters due to die except from the virgin girl it seemed the

Essay on Narrative Theorists

Essay on Narrative Theorists Introduction The trailer that I will be analysing is from ‘Jumpscare Productions’ and it is called ‘The Collector’, reason being is because they included multiple narrative theorists that can be explored within their teaser trailer. Narrative is a story that is created in a constructive format that describes a sequence of fictional or non-fictional events.  Mostly Todorov and Levi-Strauss are seen exponentially in the trailer as they would mostly be classed as the foundations of a typical horror film teaser trailer. The fact that they allow the audience to only view the equilibrium and disequilibrium but disregard the resolution shows their knowledge on the narrative theorist Todorov. Paragraph 1:  Expanding on their use of the narrative theorist Todorov helped allow the trailer to develop a structured base which included the Equilibrium and Disequilibrium. Following this pattern allowed the audience to follow the trailer identifying the anta
